Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons – #Bermuda / Spanish Lace 1961

The Four Seasons are an American rock and pop band who became internationally successful in the mid-1960s. The Vocal Group Hall of Fame has stated that the group was the most popular rock band before the Beatles. Since 1970, they have also been known at times as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. In 1960, the group known as the Four Lovers evolved into the Four Seasons, with Frankie Valli as the lead singer, Bob Gaudio (formerly of the Royal Teens) on keyboards and tenor vocals, Tommy DeVito on lead guitar and baritone vocals, and Nick Massi on bass guitar and bass vocals.

During the 1950s, they recorded R&B material as the Four Lovers and as Frankie Valli & The Romans. “Bermuda” and “Spanish Lace” were the first two sides released by Frankie Valli’s vocal group calling themselves the Four Seasons. Recorded and released near the end of 1961, these two songs garnered the Four Seasons enough of a following to ignite their career.

Mark Twain #Bermuda Travels 1867-1920

‘Ever The Twain Shall Meet'” – Mark Twain in Bermuda

Between 1867 and 1910 Mark Twain visited Bermuda seven times for a total of 187 days.

Twain penned there is just enough of whispering, breeze, fragrance of flowers, and sense of repose to raise one’s thoughts heavenward; and just enough amateur piano music to keep him reminded of the other place.…

Twain’s writings extoll the peaceful beauty of the island as well as its sometimes dissonant charm, and were published between 1877–78 in The Atlantic Monthly as “Some Rambling Notes of an Idle Excursion.” Guided by these words, Ever the Twain Shall Meet takes visitors on a journey through Twain’s visits to Bermuda, retracing the steps to his favorite haunts and places of inspiration.

#Bermuda South Shore – Raw Sewage Dumping – Atlantic Ocean – Possible negative health effects @washingtonpost

Is Bermuda’s beach sewage problem par for the course, or a rarity?

By Christopher Elliott, Published: April 11, 2014

When Ken Siegfried heard that the U.S. Consulate General in Hamilton, Bermuda, had issued a warning about ongoing dumping of raw sewage off the island’s south coast, he had flashbacks to a visit to the British territory last summer.“I came down with a major ear infection on my third day there, which required immediate medical attention,” remembers Siegfried, a loan officer from Alexandria. His fever peaked at 102 degrees and he lost the hearing in one ear for two weeks. read article
