Bermuda International Film Festival 2012 – Trailers & Schedule

The 15th edition of the Bermuda International Film Festival [BIFF] will take place March 16 to March 22, 2012 with the screening of 80 carefully selected feature-length and short films. The program is comprised of six categories:
World Cinema, Bermuda Shorts, Masterworks, Modern Masters, After Hours, and BIFF Kids. The World Cinema strand will be the largest category comprising 12 features, including “Wuthering Heights,” the latest offering from Director Andrea Arnold, whose short film, “Wasp,” screened at BIFF 2004 and later won the Short Film (Live Action) Academy Award. The celebrated narrative features “Corpo Celeste,”  “Declaration of War,” and “Where do we go now?” will also be showing in this section, along with thought-provoking documentaries, “Khodorkovsky,”  “Putin’s Kiss,”  “Whores’ Glory” and “The Island President.” The festival will be opening with the charming “Darling Companion,” starring Academy Award winners, Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline, and closing with the inspired romantic comedy “Hysteria” starring Academy Award nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hugh Danc. Bermuda’s WBA Middleweight world champion boxer, Teresa Perozzi talks about the preparation for her upcoming local “FIGHT NIGHT” against April Ward of the U.S.A on Saturday, March 10, 2012 @ at the Berkeley Institute Gymnasium in Pembroke.

Teresa says that training in Bermuda (in particular on the dunes behind Horseshoe Bay ) give her an edge that no million dollar gym can provide!

Stalwart Sound was a concept two brothers from Bermuda had for many years before it’s actual inception. Growing up in the island of Bermuda J-Groove and Jah-Son were exposed to the whole spectrum of reggae/sound system culture from an early age and began talking about one day getting in to the sound business themselves.

Early in 2001 both time and finances allowed just that and they began the building process acquiring both equipment and dubplates. From there they had a few local dates in Bermuda but their desire was to reach a more Global audience so they began the first live internet radio show from the tiny island of Bermuda.

That radio show introduced them to their current team member and close friend DJ FRIES who still plays alongside them locally and internationally to this day.

Stalwart has toured overseas in Canada, Germany and the United States and in December 2005 they won their first local sound clash (Lord Of The Ringz) to be shortly followed by an international victory in March 2006 (Checkmate) and their first overseas win in May 2007 (Philly Link Up).

The name “Stalwart” means as Luciano says “Strong and firm and always predominant” and that is the Stalwart motto and pledge.
