Final Girl Trailer ft. Heather Nova

“THE FINAL GIRL” a film by Todd Verow.

Starring: Wendy Delorme, Brenda Velez, Judy Minx, Veronique Lindenberg and Pascale Ourbih.

“Director Todd Verow’s sultry mystery takes viewers on an eerie and captivating journey through the psyches of three Parisian women whose paths converge around a vanished fourth. Combining raw documentary footage of the French capital, cryptic dialogue, and atmospheric music, the film seduces viewers, leaving them just as intrigued by the enigma of a missing woman as the film’s main characters.  Like the best films of David Lynch or the French New Wave, The Final Girl presents a dreamlike vision that lingers long after the credits roll.”  www.bangorfilms.com

Trailer 2 features the song “RIDE” by Heather Nova. Four of her songs are featured in the film among them “Ride” and “Let’s Not Talk About Love.”Todd Verow: “Heather and I went to Rhode Island School of Design together, so we’ve known each other for a really long time. By chance, she happened to get in touch with me and say, “When are you going to use some of my music for one of your movies?” It was that random. I really do like her music, and I thought it would be perfect for this movie. She sent me a whole bunch of stuff, and I picked these songs because these lyrics related to this story. I really like her music, and I like her—because she’s so feminine, so sexual, and so unapologetically sexual. The thing I found in a lot of lesbian movies is that they have a hard rock soundtrack, and I wanted something female-sexual. The music and her songs are a third character.”

Heather Nova By Sanja Vidackovic

Is it foolish to claim that there are people whose inner beauty can be recognised from the sound of their voice? The decision to ask Heather Nova to take part in our project was based on this very feeling. Her sensual and enigmatic appearance is underlined by an expressive charm and grace, her magical and unmistakable voice has been enchanting the world for decades. Heather Nova lives with her family in the Bermudas; she paints, writes, sings and gives her untiring support to numerous different aid projects. Her song Higher Ground, inspired by Matt George’s striking story, touched us deeply and even surpassed our idea about her character.

Birth of a Trust – Bermuda History Through Music

Birth of a Trust: Our Cultural Identity” is a documentary about the history of entertainment in Bermuda seen through the eyes of many of the country’s most notable musicians. The film documents the evolution of local music scene from the big band era of the 1940s and 1950s, through the popular “Battle of the Groups” at the Rosebank in the late 60s and 70s, up to the dance hall clashes of today. It features local legends like Hubert Smith, Ghandi Burgess, Lance Hayward and Michael Curtis Clarke and highlights the accomplishments of present day artists like Ras Giorgis and now retired soundsystem “Playboy International”. The film also discusses how the music of the time reflected the social changes that were taking place at any particular point in our history; from WWII, to the volatile 60’s and 70s with the assasination of the Governor and the riots, and the 1981 general strike.

Kai Lenny #SUP World Champion video w/ @MishkaMusic

Mishka’s One Tree featured in World Champion video.

The Stand Up World Tour came to a dramatic close with the Hawaii Island Finals event, where 18-year-old phenom Kai Lenny won the event and the title of World Champion!

The Tour’s final stop took place at Honoli’i on the Big Island, in two to three foot surf. Despite great performances from Antoine Delpero and Leco Salazar, as well as Kai’s archrival of the year, Peyo Lizarazu, Kai kept his cool and went above and beyond – shredding in all four heats of the 40-man main event.

Back in February, Kai had also pocketed the first stop in the tour, at Oahu’s Sunset Beach. Kai took third in Anglet, France in the second stop. He had an off-day in Tahiti, but scored second in the tour’s fourth stop in Brazil. This week, he brought it all home to a well-deserved victory.

The goal of the Tour is the global pursuit of the world’s best in stand-up paddle surfing. That person was crowned, in an emotional close to the 2010 Stand Up World Tour. Congratulations, Kai Lenny!!!
