@Chewsticks #Bermuda Music Videos
Music Videos used to be the stuff of legend; a privilege reserved purely for top shelf artists that are generating so much revenue from their record sales that they can splurge on a video of their music, not only for the promotional purposes that videos provide but also for the opportunity to visually depict the music they are creating. I remember like it was yesterday when everyone held their breath around the world for the unveiling of “BAD” by Michael Jackson on network TV. It seemed like everyone was watching this rapidly expanding, opulent medium. Music videos were excess and exclusively for the best of the best, who routinely built up the prestige around the genre by increasingly getting more technical, Hollywood directors, huge budgets, elite models, actors etc. making it nigh impossible for normal folk and artists to ever entertain making a music video for real. Until now .. Gavin Djata Smith

Ital Foundation Vol.1 LP / EDMAR
Ital Foundation came together in the winter of 1977, out of a shared belief in Rastafarianism and deep love of reggae music. Their music; an inspired fusion of self proclaimed, “space age reggae” with that of a truly classic Bermudian sound, tackles global issues of colonialism, poverty, prophecy and redemption.
They released only one album in their legendary career, the 1980 release, ‘Ital Foundations Vol 1’. A tumultous history rought with trial and tribulation resulted in Ital being an underground musical movement that saw record sales all over the world while the band languished in obscurity and turmoil.For the first time in decades Ital Foundation has reunited, with several of the original band members combined with new blood to take the sound to the next level. Ital is preparing to come back and claim their throne as kings of Reggae music. The group is currently working on their second CD, ‘Ital Foundation Volume II’ as well as a live album recorded in their birth place, now home to The Chewstick Foundation.

@ThaUnder Ground Bermuda Music Awards – History Timeline
In October 2004 Tha Underground music production and promotion company was founded by J-Rock Communications to promote and produce the music of unsigned artists from Bermuda and around the world.
Tha UnderGround website and Tha Underground Radio Show were a first of their kind on the island to create an avenue for musicians to promote their material both in Bermuda and around the world.
With the website rapidly gaining success JROC Communications now thought of an idea to hold a Grammy style red carpet music awards show for all of the artists that had given their support over the first year, both local and overseas.
The first UG Music Awards were held in Bermuda on Sunday, November 06, 2005 and with great reviews it was so well received that it has become an annual event not to be missed. Since the first UMA (awards) some of Bermuda’s finest have walked down the red carpet to the City Hall and the Ruth Seaton James Centre – Brandon Kane (video below), Stevie Dread, Joy Barnum with her extravagant outfits and Twanée just to name a few …
