Michael Kingsbury Frith born July 8, 1941 in Bermuda, is the former Executive Vice President and Creative Director for Jim Henson Productions. His contributions to Muppet projects have been extensive and varied.
Frith began his career at Random House in 1963 as a children’s book illustrator and editor. He was Editor-in-Chief of the Beginner Books series, the line of books created by Theodor Seuss Geisel Dr. Seuss. He was also Dr. Seuss’s book editor and close personal friend.
In 1971, when Random House began publishing Sesame Street books, Frith was named editor and art director of the Sesame series. He produced a series of five annual large-format Sesame Street Storybooks, and contributed artwork for four of them:The Sesame Street Storybook (1971), The Sesame Street 1, 2, 3 Storybook (1973), The Sesame Street ABC Storybook (1974), and Big Bird’s Busy Book (1975).

B.A.D. Mon Anthem
The B.A.D. Mon Anthem is the cry for freedom from conscription in the island of Bermuda. This archaic practice has been in place since the 60’s parliamentary segregation regime, causing young men to dread their 18th birthday and subsequent “call to serve” and systemic abuse. This is the anthem of the Bermudians Against the Draft movement that will end this abuse of power.
“In 2010 a ruling by the Privy Council in the UK went against the case of B.A.D. and upheld the laws of conscription in Bermuda.”
Bermudians Against the Draft (B.A.D.) is a joint action group established in the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda to challenge the legality of conscription based on principles of natural justice and judicial review.
B.A.D. was formed in 2006 in response to mounting evidence that military officials in the Bermuda Defence Department and the Bermuda Regiment have systematically abused their statutory powers of recruitment, mobilization and enforcement of its internal security obligations to the British Crown.
B.A.D. has defined a unique moment in the global conscientious objector movement by enabling philosophical or political dissent to the draft to become a sufficient grounds for deferral of military service.
This civil disobedience strategy was driven by the 2% doctrine espoused by renowned pacifist, Albert Einstein, who claimed that:
- ‘In countries where conscription exists, the true pacifist must refuse military duty. In countries where compulsory military service does not exist, true pacifists must publicly declare that they will not take up arms in any circumstances…. The timid may say, “What’s the use? We’ll be sent to prison.” To them I say: even if only two per cent announced their refusal to fight, governments would be powerless – they would not dare send such a huge number to prison.’ (Albert Einstein, 1930)

I really do like her music, and I thought it would be perfect for this movie. She sent me a whole bunch of stuff, and I picked these songs because these lyrics related to this story. I really like her music, and I like her—because she’s so feminine, so sexual, and so unapologetically sexual. The thing I found in a lot of lesbian movies is that they have a hard rock soundtrack, and I wanted something female-sexual. The music and her songs are a third character.”

Thirty years ago, John F. Kennedy observed that although 70 percent of the earth is covered by water, mankind lavished more money, energy and time on studying the surface of the moon than on learning about the oceans of our own planet.
And sadly, despite enormous improvements in technology, we still focus more on the stars above than on the seas around us.
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute can be a pioneer in redressing that lunatic imbalance. By focusing on everything from marine biology to the technology of underwater exploration and deep-ocean ecology, by offering the public glimpses of all the wonders beneath the surface, the Institute will foster a greater appreciation and understanding of this last critical frontier. . .
